Who would not want to win some Easter Chocolate ? (Non chocolate prizes were also brought by thoughtful members for those who can not have chocolate.) Members bring prizes and then play Bingo to win them.
Above you can see us enjoying the game.
Our activities could not happen if our members can not get to events, and we are very fortunate to have our own Minibus and the kind volunteer drivers who make this possible. We were especially lucky today as the minibus had been showing a fault with the ABS, and we could not take passengers until this was fixed. We left the minibus with Rygor on Thursday evening, and they looked at it on Friday morning, ordered the required part and fixed it in time for us to collect it and do the Friday evening transport run. Many thanks to the Rygor staff for fixing it, and Chris for driving.
We had an early start, boarding the minibus for the journey to Hounslow.
All aboard !
On the bus and ready for a jolly day with our friends from other Phab clubs.
On the way we played “I spy”.
Warming up with hot drinks
Once we were warmed up we started on the crafts, making mosaics,
After breakfast and an optional, but well attended and inspiring Morning Worship session, we went into a Team Building activity.
We worked in teams, Oxford Phab had the assistance of the Wheelchair Dance Sport Association, and given supplies of cake, swiss roll, chocolate buttons, fondant icing, icing sugar and similar ingredients and told to construct something related to a season. So what can you make from cake ? This is not a snowman Рonce coloured in this will be a maypole dancer ! Here is the final result Рthere is a maypole, complete with dancers Рone in a wheelchair, a cake stall and a coconut shy Рfor added realism the coconuts are glued to the stands ! Other groups made a bonfire, a snowman, a ski scene and other seasonal themes, but after much deliberation ours was declared the best !!! For added realism our spring f̻te ended in a washout !
We finished the event with presentations and lunch, and then went home on the minibus.
Off in our minibus to Chichester for a Phab South East Fun Weekend Going round Oxford and Abingdon, loading Lunch at MacDonalds
We checked in to the hotel, and unpacked in our rooms, and then it was time for the ice breaker activity. Mingling in the bar, trying to find people Chelsea supporters and people who are allergic to cats. A good icebreaker as there are people from all over the South East here. During the meal we were entertained by an excellent singer. The meals at the hotel were good – here we have reached the coffee stage, still enjoying the entertainment.
This was followed by more chatting and entertainment until people drifted off to bed.
Simon and Sarah once again rounded off our summer season by hosting a Barbeque in their garden. Here are some early arrivals and more of the club on our minibus Burgers, sausages, chicken, vegetarian burgers and sausages, as well as salads and nibbles, and a range of drinks – plenty for everyone.
No Phab now until September – although hopefully some members will help us serve Cream Teas, in aid of the Wesley MemorialOpen Doors project on August 8th.
