We played a variety of board games.
including Boggle.

Serving Cream Teas in aid of Open Doors
A small group of Phab members served a range of home made cakes, and scones with jam and cream to the public in aid of the Wesley Memorial Open Doors project. We made over £75 as well as extending hospitality to a range of people from near and far.
We hope some fresh people got to see Phab in action raising money for another worthy cause.
Boccia – with our new Boccia set
We played Boccia in the John Wesley Room.
Using our new Boccia set – we had been borrowing Boccia sets before now to play.
The John Wesley Room is shorter than the Hall, so we set up tables as a backstop.
Knocking the white target ball away from its initial position is a perfectly valid – and sometimes successful – tactic.
and here we are on video !
Zumbathon
Oxford Phab held a Zumbathon on Saturday June 20th 2015
Our poster for the event is here zumba fundraising event.pub – Please print it and display it, or forward it to anyone you know who may be interested.
Zumba is a popular activity on club nights, but for this fundraising event we want others to come, have fun, get fitter, and contribute to our club funds !
There will be Stalls and Refreshments from 10am to 1pm, and Zumba from 11am until 12:30pm
The cost is £5 per person, the Zumba Instructor will be George Martini, and the event took place at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church Hall, New Inn Hall Street, Oxford, OX1 2DH
In the end we raised over £400 for club funds – thank you to everyone who contributed or took part, particularly to George and his friends.
Beetle Drive
With much rattling of dice our Beetle Drive began
Some Beetles were very artistic – but everyone had a good time
with a break for a light(ish) supper – of bread and cheese and pate and salad
and we raised money for the Wesley Memorial Open Doors project, which aims to make the rooms where we meet more accessible
Moonrakers Concert
Moonrakers did a concert at Wesley Memorial, in aid of its Open Doors project. It was enjoyed, not just by Phab, but by many members of the church and Moonrakers fans who came to hear them play.
Beetle Drive in conjuction with the John Wesley Society
On Friday 27th April we held a Beetle Drive, in conjunction with the John Wesley society, in aid of the Wesley Memorial Open Doors project.
The evening gave Phab members and JWS and church members a chance to socialise, and get to know each other a little. As well as playing Beetle, we ate hot dogs, and Beetle Biscuits. There were prizes (of chocolate bars) for the best drawn Beetles. Unfortunately the prize for best Beetle costume went unawarded this time, so someone missed out on even more chocolate.
Normal Club with Games and Baking
A normal club night in the John Wesley room with some games.
We also did a bit of baking !
First Aid Training
We had an evening of First Aid Training. We learned how to put someone into the recovery position, how and when to apply basic cardio-pulmonary resuscitation CPR), how to report an emergency and many other useful skills. We also had a lot of fun !
There is a special Resusci Anne for babies.
George is very happy with his bandaging ability
Demonstration of how to apply a head bandage
And two more – by the end of the night we were starting to look like a plague of mummies !
