Wesley Memorial Church served as one of the venues for the Oxford Folk Weekend. We met, as usual, in the John Wesley Room, but this was doubling as a cafe for the occasion, so some members bought a snack or a drink, and admired the stalls selling accordions, and other Folk related items.
We then went though into the sanctuary, which had been transformed into a music venue, and listened to The Skeptics, and then after an interval False Lights. We are very grateful to the bands, and the the organisers of the Folk Weekend for a very enjoyable evening.

Easter Bingo
We bring chocolates, and some non-chocolate goodies, for those who have to avoid it, and then we play Bingo, winning a prize for a line, then for two lines and then for a full house, until all the chocolate is gone.
After a few rounds we do not clear the sheets once someone has a full house, but play on until everyone has won a prize. We have some larger eggs, and then a lot of mini eggs, so if our members have already won a large egg, then they can still win mini eggs, but leave larger prizes for others.
For those of us who are learning BSL it is a chance to practice our numbers.

Noodle Night
Having taken orders beforehand – complicated by having had the previous Phab cancelled due to snow, a delegation went to collect our order.
The previous Noodle Night, and the one before that, our order had been very neatly labelled, but we must have picked a busy night. The boxes had been marked with numbers from their menu, but many of the numbers had not survived the journey to the church, leaving us with some detective work to do !
Fortunately we got them right and everyone enjoyed their meal.
Snow ! – no Phab on Friday 2nd March
Due to the snow and the expected transport disruption there will be no Phab on Friday 2nd March 2018.
We hope George will be able to Zumba with us another time, meanwhile wrap up well and stay safe.
Quiz Night
Robin had carefully prepared his quiz. This time being well up on the full range of Star Wars movies would have been an advantage, and we did manage to do quite well on that. Unfortunately my knowledge of Gladiators, was limited to having seen the trailers, but Sarah boosted our team’s score significantly on that one, so we ended up in equal first place !
All the teams shared the chocolatey rewards.
Hockey and Games
We had card games in the John Wesley Room and Hockey in the Hall, thus suiting those of contemplative and active dispositions.

Pancake night
We had stacks of pancakes, and a wide selection of fillings, bananas, chocolate sauce, squirty cream, golden syrup and, of course, lemons and sugar.
Some of the more adventurous tried pancakes with avocado – well worth the risk of trying something new !
Craft Night
We decorated bags, made mobiles, and decorated transparent sheets.
These butterflies will look lovely attached to a window with the sun streaming through them – if we have any sun – which seems a distant memory in this gloomy February.
What could be better than a little creative activity to raise our spirits.
